Who the session is aimed at
This session is for anyone wishing to :
- stop overthinking and thinking in unhelpful ways
- learn how to challenge your unhelpful thoughts
- change your relationship with your thoughts
- spend less time ruminating
- address your self-criticism and negative ‘self-talk’
You’ll take away several strategies/techniques to practice and work towards a more helpful mindset.
Session content
During this participative, upbeat session, you’ll learn:
- how to separate yourself – defuse – from unhelpful thoughts
- about grounding and distraction
- how to reduce the intensity and impact that unhelpful thoughts can have
- how emotions and feelings are made
- how useful mindfulness can be in this context
- self-compassion in self-talk
- how to view thoughts as words/images that can change
- where thinking errors come from, and what to do about them

As a result of the session, you’ll be able to:
- Describe several practical and useful thinking skills
- Develop a healthy and helpful mindset
- Identify, recognise and deal with (your) thinking errors
- Prevent and deal with unhelpful/negative self-talk
