I looked in a previous video at how we can be affected physically, mentally, emotionally and behaviourally when we get stressed, and how the symptoms can feed into each other in a cyclical way. This time I’d like to cover a technique we can try to unhook and detach from our thoughts if we’re thinking in unhelpful ways, so that the cycle is broken.

It can help us to gain some ‘distance’ from our thoughts: to recognise if we’re saying unhelpful, negative things to ourselves, that such thoughts are not ‘facts’, they’re current opinions, which we don’t have to believe and subscribe to.
